An avocado inquiry.

From the French-English vocabulary thread on wordreference:

How does one avoid saying "I am an avocado"  when one means "I am a lawyer," since the words for avocado and lawyer are the same (avocat)?

"Je suis un avocat" ("I am an avocado") vs. "Je suis avocat" ("I am a lawyer")?

Or is it simply the context?
